3 Steps To Get A Meeting With Any VIP:

1) Find out what causes they care about. Write a ½ to 1 page genuine letter about their specific accomplishments you admire. Offer five hours donation of your time to their favorite non-profit for five minutes of their time (request a meeting in person versus via phone).

2) Send your letter via FedEx. Call to ensure it was received and bond with their Executive Assistant. Only call first thing in AM or last thing in PM. They’re more likely to answer then.

3) Repeat step 2 until you get a meeting. If for some reason this doesn’t work, give the letter to them by hand at an event they are speaking at. Then repeat step 2 until you get a meeting.

Something epic is coming! For real. We’re launching!

If you check out our home page today you’ll see the above. I think we’ve made some progress since our launchrock page days (nothing against launchrock, of course.) What’s exciting is that our first official contest for a day-in-the-life experience starts November 8th at 9:00:00. (Yes, we’re that precise.)

What’s up for grabs? Win the chance to spend a day with Matthew Corrin, Founder and CEO of Freshii- one of Inc.com’s 30 Under 30 and the head of one of Canada’s fastest growing retail chains. Whoops. We just realized it’s been just over a month since our last post. I guess that means we’ve been really busy- too busy to blog. And, it’s true! We launched our friends and family alpha and that was super insightful. See some screen shots below for the EpicRise site goodness. How’d it go? Thanks for asking :) We learned a lot, fixed bugs and are working around the clock to integrate feedback and add new features. What’s the rush? We have a November 8th launch date! Yup, we said it and now we’re accountable. It will be a soft launch, but a launch none-the-less. We have an awesome experience up for grabs and some fun challenges planned.

We’ve had more than a few people asking about our launch date. Apparently we are ‘keeping things under wraps’ and admittedly, we have been keeping things on the DL, but not anymore! And no, we are not allEpic (although I’m sure they’re really cool) We’re close (very close) to launching and so we’ve decided to give a little update here.

For our private alpha, we’ll be inviting a small group of people to compete in our first ever contest! If you haven’t joined our invite list- there’s still time. Our private launch will commence September 15th, 2011.

We’ve had a lot of people ask what we’ve been up to since Startup Weekend Toronto. Lots! We’ve been hard at work- no sleeping, binge eating (drinking) and no vacations. (We’re joking about the no vacations part-we work hard, but play harder)

We’re about to launch our private alpha (a full schedule will come in a post of it’s own). In the meantime, we’ve updated our ‘about’ section- so check it out if you’re still wondering ‘what the heck is EpicRise anyway’. It should help clarify things. Oh, and we’ll be coming out with a sweet ‘how it works’ video too, so check back for that.

Last week’s Vestiigo Tweet Chat was really insightful for the team here at EpicRise. More than ever, we’re realizing that the resume is so old school. Resume’s are boring and static and make us list accomplishment after accomplishment- things that could take us decades to achieve. But we’re bright, educated and we’ve got personality. How are we supposed to showcase who we are and what we are capable of? The tweet chat offered some good options, but we think we have a better solution- EpicRise. With each contest and challenge you complete on the EpicRise platform, like re-branding the Virgin Galactic, you’re building your own personal portfolio to showcase your skills and prove your worth. It’ like a resume on steroids- it’s resume 2.0.
